Visiting Loveland, Colorado

The Sweetheart City isn't just a return address — it's a genuinely worthwhile stop in northern Colorado, with a downtown built around art, sculpture, and its favorite holiday.

The Sweetheart Festival

Loveland's signature event is a free, family-friendly downtown festival held around Valentine's Day each year. Past years have included live music at the historic Rialto Theater, live ice sculpting, a "Little Miss Valentine & Mr. Cupid" contest, the Sweetheart Classic 4-mile race, a "Palace of Sweets" vendor area, and a beer garden — something for couples, families, and anyone who just wants an excuse to be outside in February.

Exact dates move around Valentine's Day each year — check Visit Loveland's festival page for the current year's schedule before planning a trip.

The Love Lock Sculptures

Loveland is home to two of the largest love lock sculptures in the country — a 24,000-pound steel "LOVE" sculpture at the Visitors Center and a heart-shaped sculpture at Lake Loveland, each over ten feet tall. Couples bring a small padlock (or buy one locally), personalize it, attach it to the sculpture's grid, and toss the key — a permanent, physical version of the same sentiment the re-mailing program sends through the mail.
